Knowledge Organisers

In our foundation subjects, we use knowledge organisers to support pupils in developing secure, long-term understanding of key knowledge and concepts. Each knowledge organiser sets out the essential facts, vocabulary and ideas that children are expected to learn and remember within a unit of work.

Knowledge organisers are used actively in lessons to support retrieval practice, helping children recall prior learning, strengthen memory, and make meaningful links between what they already know and new information. Regular opportunities to revisit and retrieve key knowledge help pupils build confidence and deepen their understanding over time.

These organisers also support consistency and progression across the curriculum, ensuring that learning builds carefully from unit to unit and year to year. They provide a shared reference for pupils, staff and parents, enabling learning to be reinforced both in school and at home.

The use of knowledge organisers reflects our commitment to a well-sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum and supports pupils in knowing more and remembering more over time.
